millipede updates also I'm dumb

also so did an alarmingly large portion of this year! weee...

Anywho! What happened to my millipedes?

I ended up freaking out and temporarily removing all of my bugs from the enclosure to dig them up. My millipedes were alive and well and not-squishy!
Admittedly that was a bit of a dumb move on my part. Of course I can't expect my millipedes to always be on the surface during non-molting times.

It probably didn't help that they were most likely underground because I had stopped feeding them by putting food on the surface, and they had probably gone scavenging for roots or fungus or whatever they could find. (I had thought molting millipedes wouldn't surface to eat anything I would place - that was dumb, though, I probably should've placed food in there anyways, just in case)
I've started feeding them again, and now I will sometimes spot the large and medium millipede crawling about on the surface. I haven't seen the little one, but I can only assume I'm not around when it pops out of the ground.

It's nice seeing them again every once in a while~


Oh, and, another dumb thing that I did:
Soon after realizing the aforementioned, I was worried that they might have been dying or something. So, whenever I placed some food in there for them, I tried to place them on top or nearby it, so that they could find it easily.
Well, one time, after putting in a banana slice, I found two of my millipedes in close proximity. It flashed across my mind that they might have been hugging (read: mating), but I disregarded the thought. I grabbed one and pulled it up, only to realize that it had indeed been hugging the other one, and that I had just broken their embrace.
I felt super bad, and tried to put it back, but the other one had lost interest. It was digging into the ground slowly. The one I had picked up started to dig next to it at a rather fast pace, rubbing its head against the side of the other millipede, obviously wanting to hug again. But alas, it did not stop...
It just wanted a hug and I denied it that :c
